Before you start
- Students' answers stay on their own device. There is no dashboard — you never see journals unless a student chooses to share.
- Encourage nicknames. No real names, photos or locations are needed.
- Remind students every question can be skipped. Be trauma-aware: avoid probing personal hardship.
- Online: share your screen on the Welcome page, then let students work on their own devices for 10–15 min per section.
- Revisit at the end of the programme: students save a new dated version and compare.
1. What Matters to Me
- Purpose:
- Name what guides us. Builds BELONG.
- Discuss:
- Which value did you almost choose? Where have you seen this value in action?
- Adapt:
- Offline: print value cards and let students place them on a table.
2. My Strengths
- Purpose:
- Recognise quiet and visible strengths.
- Discuss:
- What strength would a friend name for you?
- Adapt:
- Pair students to name one strength in each other — only positive feedback.
3. What Would I Change?
- Purpose:
- Connect personal concern to community.
- Discuss:
- Who else might see this issue differently?
- Adapt:
- Never ask students to disclose painful experiences. Keep issues general.
4. Imagine Something Better
- Purpose:
- Divergent thinking without judgement.
- Discuss:
- Which idea is smallest and easiest to try?
- Adapt:
- Use a shared whiteboard with anonymous sticky notes.
5. Who Needs to Hear My Story?
- Purpose:
- Audience awareness. Starts COMMUNICATE.
- Discuss:
- How would you tell this to a grandparent vs a friend?
- Adapt:
- Role-play in breakout rooms of 2–3.
6. The Difference I Want to Make
- Purpose:
- Realistic, measurable impact.
- Discuss:
- What would 'a little better' look like in one month?
- Adapt:
- Celebrate small numbers — 5 people is real impact.
7. My Ask
- Purpose:
- Asking for help is a leadership skill.
- Discuss:
- What makes a request easy to say yes to?
- Adapt:
- Model a respectful ask yourself first.
8. My Changemaker Story
- Purpose:
- Synthesis into a personal narrative.
- Discuss:
- Which sentence sounds most like you?
- Adapt:
- Students who prefer can draw or voice-note privately instead.
9. My 60-Second Story
- Purpose:
- Confidence through low-stakes practice.
- Discuss:
- What helped you feel calmer?
- Adapt:
- Offer cameras-off sharing, or sharing only with the facilitator.
10. My Reflection
- Purpose:
- Metacognition and next steps.
- Discuss:
- What's one tiny action for this week?
- Adapt:
- Reflections are private — invite, never require, sharing.
Next in the programme: students carry their idea into project planning for the GivingTuesday Action Stipend.
